Life Story Policarp Pappert was born July
5, 1820 to Johannes Adam Pappert and Anna Margaretha Raab in Dipperez,
a small Catholic parish town eight kilometers east of Fulda. His godfather,
possibly an uncle, was Josephus Raab of Wissels. He married Josepha Scheling
of Fulda on October 10, 1854 in the Cathedral of Fulda. A civil ceremony
was held on October 2 in Cassel. Policarp was an Obergendarm--chief police
officer--in the town of Neukirchen, and he later retired from the military
to become a district messenger in Fulda. He moved the family to Fulda
where his son attended high school sometime in the 1870's. |
