Life Story

Florence Fitzsimmons was born in New York on August 6, 1896 to Irish immigrant parents. She married Lyle Knittel on June 6, 1923 in the Bronx. She and Lyle had one son, Donald, born in January 1925. He died September 16, 1928 of unknown causes.

Over the years Florence actively participated in the funeral home with Lyle. She worked alongside him in cosmetology and assisted in helping with client sales and offering support to families. They were both very active in their local church events and services.

Florence died in March of 1979 in Queens and is buried by her husband at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Hastings-on-Hudson, New York.
